NEWS RELEASE:
A Blessing, Inc. Soup Kitchen Installs New Range/Oven
May 22, 2018
A Blessing, Inc. has installed a new range/oven in the soup kitchen located at 583 Bunn Elementary School Road, Bunn, NC. The range/oven was made possible by a grant awarded from the Jandy Ammons Foundation, Raleigh, NC.
A Blessing, Inc. is a soup kitchen in Bunn that has been serving meals every Thursday from 11:30 – 12:30 since 2010. They offer a meal to anyone with a need for a healthy, nutritious meal each week.
The Jandy Ammons Foundation partners with nonprofit organizations, municipalities or Christian church groups where a significant volunteer base can be demonstrated to help implement project-driven initiatives. Their primary purpose is to encourage specific capital projects for local communities.
A Blessing, Inc. filed an initial proposal in spring, 2017, and was invited to submit a full proposal for their project by Sept. 2017. Later, in Nov., 2017, A Blessing, Inc. was notified they would receive the grant. In early 2018, the work started to finalize quotations for the range, electrical work, etc. and finally the new range was installed in May, 2018.
The new range/oven will be a huge help to the serving teams. Until now, they only had a small cooktop and wall oven. Now they have plenty of oven space and larger heating elements on the range.
A Blessing, Inc. expresses their sincere appreciation to the Jandy Ammons Foundation for making this possible for the soup kitchen.

On July 21, 2017, A Blessing, Inc. received a gift of tomatoes from Vollmer Farm! Russ Vollmer donated 16 bins of his wonderful tomatoes to the soup kitchen. We quickly came up with a team of volunteers from our serving teams to process the tomatoes for freezing. Bunn Baptist Church very kindly volunteered the use of their kitchen for this project. After a full day of boiling, peeling, slicing and packaging, we ended up with 50 each 1-gallon bags of tomatoes for freezing. These tomatoes will be used for creating spaghetti sauce and vegetable soup for serving at the soup kitchen.
Thank you Vollmer Farm for donating the tomatoes and thank you to Bunn Baptist Church for allowing A Blessing, Inc. to use your kitchen. Thank you to all the volunteers to helped process the tomatoes. You are the best!!
